“We’re thrilled to be returning for an 11th season of yoga in Connecticut parks. Thanks to continued support from ConnectiCare, Yoga In Our City has continued to develop and grow since its inception in 2012,” said Thomas Clynch, Founder of Yoga In Our City. “Our partnership with ConnectiCare allows us to provide this essential resource to all residents, regardless of their experience with the practice. Yoga is a lifestyle of health and wellness that can begin in grade school and maintained throughout one’s life. Our teachers provide a welcoming space for everyone to practice yoga at their own pace.”
“Yoga In Our City offers residents of all ages an accessible way to improve their mental and physical health,” said Kimberly Kann, AVP, Public Relations, ConnectiCare. “We are proud to support the program and its mission to provide Connecticut communities with access to the benefits of yoga, free of charge. We thank our various community partners for supporting Yoga In Our City as it continues to grow to more parks in more communities across Connecticut.”
Yoga In Our City also receives support from Mental Health Connecticut, Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union, AARP Connecticut, Access Health Connecticut, Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association, and The Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, and Equitable Access for All (CWCSEO).
Yoga In Our City offers more than 700 free yoga classes throughout the summer, including four bilingual classes per week at parks in Hartford, Waterbury, and Willimantic. The 2023 class schedule can be found below and at yogainourcity.com. Park maps are also available on the website.
The goal of the program is to offer accessible and inclusive classes to everyone in the community. All Yoga In Our City classes are free and open to residents of all ages and skill levels, and registration is not required. Participants are encouraged to bring a bottle of water and a yoga mat or towel to each class.
“I love that Yoga In Our City is inclusive. I love that any person from any walk of life can walk up and join the class,” said Angelica, a Hartford native and Yoga In Our City teacher. “You don’t need to fill out a sign-up sheet. You don’t even need a yoga mat. I like that the program is accessible to the community. Yoga In Our City makes it super easy to come to class as you are. I think that the most important thing about yoga is to come as you are and let the rest unfold.”
The 2023 Yoga In Our City schedule is available on the programs website, yogainourcity.com. For program information and regular updates, follow Yoga In Our City on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
