FARMINGTON, Conn. – November 19, 2025 – ConnectiCare, a Connecticut-based health plan owned by Molina Healthcare, Inc., and Yoga In Our City recently celebrated the completion of the 13th annual City Parks Program, which offers no-cost yoga classes for all abilities at parks in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, and Waterbury throughout the summer. From May 18 to October 12, Yoga In Our City – presented by ConnectiCare – offered nearly 500 classes for more than 5,300 participants seeking to connect with their communities and support their mental and physical wellness.
“This season, we’ve witnessed our Yoga in Our City community deepen in connection and purpose. Our focus remains on strengthening our team and the communities we serve, creating spaces for collaboration, reflection, and shared growth,” said Yizza Galdamez, Managing Director of Yoga In Our City. “With gratitude to ConnectiCare and our community partnerships, this program continues to play an important role in the well-being of our communities, fostering connection, resilience, and collective care through accessible yoga and mindfulness practices.”
The program, which offers classes multiple times a week at parks in cities across the state, provides residents with access to essential tools to enhance their mental and physical health. Yoga provides meaningful psychological, spiritual, and physiological benefits, including improved strength, balance, flexibility, heart health, sleep quality, and energy, as well as stress relief, enhanced cognitive skills such as learning and memory, a better mood, and decreased anxiety.
“ConnectiCare is rooted in our mission to improve the health and lives of our members and all Connecticut residents. That’s why we’re proud to support the Yoga In Our City program, which offers a holistic approach to community health and wellness,” said Kimberly Kann, AVP, growth and community engagement at ConnectiCare.
Throughout the year, Yoga In Our City also collaborated with local partners to support health-focused events, including:
- ConnectiCare’s Family Wellness Day and Children’s Animal Exercise Class
- Horizon’s six-week enrichment program for middle school girls in Hartford
- The Special Olympics’ Summer Games and Fall Fitness Festival
“Beyond taking excellent yoga classes, you can feel a different energy and peace. Waterbury has opened up the world of yoga out in nature; it's such a different sensation. I’ve made friends here of different ages, and we are all united thanks to Yoga In Our City. It feels like being surrounded by family, it feels like home,” said Laura Barrios, a Yoga In Our City program participant from Waterbury.
