The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires all affected entities (e.g., health plans, hospitals, clearinghouses) to follow specific standards when transmitting electronic data for health care administrative transactions. ConnectiCare has been working to take the necessary steps to be compliant with these ICD-10 standards.
Keep this date in mind:
October 1, 2015* – Under federal law, the ICD-9 code set must be replaced by ICD-10 on or after this date. ConnectiCare has developed and is following an internal action plan for compliance in October 2015. I want to know more.

*Please note: On April 1, 2014, the federal government enacted a law stating that ICD-10 cannot be implemented prior to October 1, 2015. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has yet to release an interim rule noting the new compliance date.
