      Major Risk Factors

      Some Major Risk Factors For Diabetes Include:

      1. obesity
      2. family history of diabetes
      3. ethnic background: African American, Hispanic, Native American or Asian
      4. diagnosed with gestational diabetes or delivering a baby that weighs 9 lbs. or more
      5. high blood pressure
      6. high cholesterol or triglycerides level


      Monitoring Your Blood Sugar

      For many people with diabetes, monitoring blood sugar readings is an important part of managing their diabetes. Here's a weekly log you can print out and use to record and track your blood sugar readings. Be sure to share the log with your doctor.
