
New Law extends Connecticut Basic Cobra from 18 to 30 months
A new Connecticut law extended the length of COBRA and state continuation coverage for all insured plans as of May 5, 2010. This law extends continuation coverage from 18 to 30 months where the qualifying event was due to a lay-off, termination of employment (except for gross misconduct), leave of absence or reduction in hours.
Attached in the links below are samples of the letters being sent to all qualifying COBRA beneficiaries as of May 5, 2010. Additionally, the sample employer letter was only sent to employers who had enrolled COBRA beneficiaries.
