We recommend that members call their physician to discuss their treatment options. In most cases this will not require an office visit. Members who are moved to Prilosec OTC will be required to obtain a prescription in order for ConnectiCare to cover the medication. Physicians can call or fax in the prescription for Prilosec OTC to the member's pharmacy, or mail the prescription to the member.

This change will provide all members who are taking Nexium, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex and Omperazole an opportunity to significantly reduce their out-of-pocket pharmacy costs--in some cases as much as $340 a year. At a time when many health care companies are limiting the number of drugs they cover, ConnectiCare is pleased to explore new and innovative ways to maintain member access to available FDA-approved drugs.

ConnectiCare will be working closely with participating pharmacies and physicians to help make this change as seamless as possible for members. If you have any questions about this program, please contact ConnectiCare’s Member Services at 1-800-251-7722.
