Farmington, CT - ConnectiCare has been ranked number one for having the best complaint ratio of all health plans in Connecticut. This is the 4th consecutive year that ConnectiCare has earned this top honor. The annual rankings are released by the Connecticut Insurance Department based on information from the year 2008.
ConnectiCare’s CEO Mickey Herbert stated, "We work hard to give our customers exceptional service and help navigate the complex health system. Considering our health plan facilitates over a million transactions for our customers every year, I am proud we have such a low number of complaints. We still aim to be at zero. Moreover, we believe these results demonstrate that the number of complaints against health plans have been exaggerated in the health reform debate. We know that when customers in a private health plan are surveyed, 87% say they are satisfied or very satisfied with their health plan."
"We are continually working to make our business more customer friendly. For example, approximately 91% of our customer claims are set up for automatic processing and never touch a human hand; and, as result, 97% of our claims are paid in less than 30 days. This is just one type of innovation our business is focused on."
The rankings are based on HMOs against which justified complaints have been recorded by the Connecticut Insurance Department. In 2008, only twelve ConnectiCare complaints were considered justified. Health plans, once they receive a justified complaint, work to resolve the problem with the member and the Insurance Department.
The rankings report may be found on the Connecticut Insurance Department website.
