ConnectiCare Walk Day

June 20, 2008 - Farmington, CT - ConnectiCare is hosting a “Walk Day” for all employees this upcoming Monday. As part of ConnectiCare’s employee wellness program, the company is encouraging employees to regularly fit in a short walk after lunch. ConnectiCare will also designate the last Friday of every month as a “Walk Day” in which employees that walk can wear sneakers all day at work.

President and CEO, Mickey Herbert, will kickoff “Walk Day” by leading a walk around the outdoor campus. All employees are invited to join him.

Herbert says, “The benefits of even a short walk are great. We want our employees in high spirits and filled with energy when they engage our customers. A quick walk after lunch helps reinvigorate the body, reduces stress, and prepares people for their afternoon. With a heavy work load, it’s easy to compensate by eating big and getting bogged down at lunch time. We are hoping a walk combined with one of our cafe’s new health choice meals will help provide employees with the right outlet.”

In January 2008, ConnectiCare launched Wellness & Rewards. The program provides premium rebates to employees who reach personal health benchmarks. Over 80% of the employees at ConnectiCare are participating. As part of this program, ConnectiCare is supporting health promotions such as professional health coaching, health risk assessments, and nutritional counseling.

Local fitness and shoe expert, Fleet Feet, will be at “Walk Day” to conduct a free foot screening and provide advice on comfortable walk shoes. Also, there will be a registration table for this September's American Heart Association walk in Hartford.
